The Citizen Policies Institute, nonprofit and nonpartisan,
was founded in 2001 to advance the ideas outlined in Healing
Politics (Steven Shafarman, 2000) and We the People
(Steven Shafarman, 2001).
In support of programs whose goals include universal economic
empowerment, community self-reliance, and the recognition of
citizens as entitled and responsible stakeholders in the nation
and commons, the Institute will conduct research on socioeconomic
topics - e.g. poverty, taxation, corporate welfare, charity
and volunteerism - and disseminate its findings through publishing
and outreach to civic, academic and grassroots audiences and
the media.
These efforts will support the work of advocacy groups promoting
the mutually enabling Citizen Policies initiatives of guaranteed
income and universal community service. We are still in the
early stages of formation and fundraising. Please contact us
if you are interested in these ideas.
